Army Building for the Yungngora Community

Last week, the project team and engineers from the Army Aboriginal Community Assistance Programme (AACAP) visited the Yungngora community to meet with the Noonkanbah Aboriginal Corporation Board and the NAC Executive team. During this meeting, they presented and discussed plans for a new community store and airstrip set to be built in 2026.

AACAP, which has been active for over 25 years, deploys soldiers to remote and disadvantaged areas to support local communities.

For the 2026 dry season, a camp of over 150 army personnel, including builders, doctors, dentists, and veterinarians, will be established in Yungngora. Their mission will be to provide essential infrastructure, including the new community general store and airstrip.

AACAP projects are designed to leverage the Army’s construction, health, and training expertise, enabling the delivery of a comprehensive range of services to remote communities that would otherwise be unavailable in a single initiative.
