Nyikina Walmajarri Rangers Create a Blue Tree for Yungngora Community
Our dedicated Nyikina Walmajarri Rangers have come together to establish their very own Blue Tree for the Yungngora community—a symbol of hope, healing, and connection.
“It’s our Blue Tree,” shared Roxanne Thirkall, a Nyikina Walmajarri Ranger. “For our mental health. For our kids. For our community.”
The Blue Tree represents more than just a visual symbol; it serves as a powerful reminder that conversations about mental health can save lives. Sometimes, all it takes is reaching out, asking how someone is feeling, or simply listening. Small acts of kindness can create a big impact.
The Blue Tree Project began in 2018, inspired by the tragic loss of Kendall Whyte’s brother, Jayden, to suicide. What started as a quiet act—Jayden and his friend painting a blue tree and sharing their story only at his funeral—grew into a worldwide movement of hope and awareness. When the blue tree was discovered, it sparked conversations and brought communities together to break the silence surrounding mental health.
Today, blue trees stand as symbols of hope and resilience, reminding us that care, connection, and open conversation are powerful tools. Remember—you are never alone.
